good to hear, Simon - looking forward to it! AFAIK the po/mo stuff is used for Wordpress itself and most plugins, so I guess this will be the most mainstream and compatible way to go.

It will certainly feature translation capabilities, and UTF-8 will be the standard charset (both for html and database).

I've yet to look into the different translation methods used when developing in php, but if po/mo files are the standard, it's what I'd end up using.

good to see things are still moving. As an "international" user my greatest concern is to get OIO ready for translation and UTF8 (currently it screws up stuff like German umlauts...).

If you get this baby to work with standard po/mo files so we can translate it with POEdit or similar, I will happily donate a German translation!

Cheers and keep it up!

Well, at the moment I'm building up the admin side of things so that it can be used for display and feedback purposes on the "wiki". The wiki mini-site is also ready, just needs the OIO content.

I'm taking a bit more time than usual, partly because it's the height of Summer (vacations etc) and partly because I'm making sure what is put out initially is well thought through.

I therefore can't say when I'll be ready to launch it, but it is the main thing I'm working on at the moment. I'll let everyone know by email, twitter & blog as soon as it's ready.

Wow, a very interesting an ambitious project indeed. I believe you are managing one of the most complex 3rd party available WordPress plugins available on the internet right now, and it is inspiring to see how you build and grow your product.

Week of July 6-10 is my "money-enable" week, OIO work already planned.

I'm an expert programmer, teaching myself PHP right now. May have questions on the actual code.
